Description
|
In 2007, I imported from Australia adult Sussex from championship lines at a cost of more than $1,000 each. In Australia, Sussex have cult status among poultry fanciers, and the level of competition is high in the many poultry shows that draw thousands of admirers. Sussex are a dual-purpose bird that typically produce about 220 large tinted eggs each year and very heavy carcasses. These traits made them valuable contributors to the genetics of many modern commercial birds. The light Sussex is an old English breed descended from ancient Roman birds and is said to be the best layer among the eight Sussex varieties. With its striking black markings against blindingly white feathers and pearl-white legs, it projects a regal presence. They express a calm curiosity toward their human caretakers. You can see video of our birds by using 'light Sussex' as a search term on Youtube. You are bidding on a cockerel and two pullets that are started birds about four weeks old hatched from the imported birds. This is a rare opportunity to help establish a new bloodline in the United States at a tiny fraction of the cost to import their parents. Shipping is $60 including crate anywhere in the lower 48. These will be shipped on Tuesday, November 9th. Thanks for bidding. To learn more about our breeding program go to www.greenfirefarms.com
